Tried this out but needed a couple of goes before it went off.
The blank does not seat centered so the firing pin hits the edge of the blank & not the center.
A bit of time & effort & i will make this work 100% so only 3 stars for quality.
@rayc101 nice tip about tube, hell of a lot safer.

On my site i used to use various maroons and trip mines to simulate a loud bang in the various games played, these were not cost effective at all, now I bought a few of these and found them to be more cost effective and easyer to use.
As stated above the blank fires and leaves all the sharp edges thus making it hard to replace the round but wearing gloves works great.
Placing this at the bottom of the doors in my CQB area works great with no problems at all, I would not recomend anyone placing at head height any pyro a bit of common sence is needed...
A simple bit of kit, easly and quickly fitted, i would recomend a better pull pin rather than a safety pin as it bends in the stress of the spring...

Thanks

Andrew

hi i had the same trouble but you can use it 10 time more safer by using a brass tube,
in stead of using the spring clip that is supplied with the mine to hold the blank in
use a piece of brass tube at least 3mm thick and slide over the end it must fit snug
i hope this helps

I bought this item a couple of years ago form a different retailer along with the blank shotgun shell trip mine. Living in a dodgy area I wanted my shed and power tools protected. The door mine has the blank loaded into the top and retained by the clip that swivels round. The L shape is drawn back and prevented from striking the blank by a strip of metal resting in a groove. You wedge the strip against the flat bottom and place these parts into the jam of a door. When the door opens the strip flips up out of the groove the striker descends and triggers the blank. All good so far. The problem is the bank extends 3-4mm out of the end of the mine. Upon its first test at arms length this exposed brass was stripped off by the force of the blank, turned into shrapnel, and berried its self in the bone in my thumb. Ouch. I dread to think what would have happened if it was a) accidentally triggered while being loaded closer to the user, or b) mounted about head/eye hight. This item is just too damn dangerous to use airsofting or around people. Sorry. Great cheap item but without the blank being fully inside the mine like on the bfg adapters it is just not worth the risk. Photos of the scar are available on request. I even kept the shrapnel to remind me never to be that stupid again.

AW answer: Good point, we've actually done the same thing and blasted brass shrapnel into our fingers and causing a cut, although nowhere near the bone! Maybe the blanks you were supplied were high grain content (more powder) and therefore more powerful? In any case, as with all pyro use, safety glasses and gloves should always be worn, no exceptions.

Door mines are safe if used correctly. They should be placed on the opposite side of the door from where the player approaches. This is usually the case anyway because if it was on their side it would be spotted a mile off!
