Interesting use of the word "basic" when you consider that this kit includes the following:

Full set of steel gears
Sector gear chip
Polycarbonate piston
Polycarbonate bearing piston head
Full set of shims
Full set of 6mm oiless bushes
Anti reverse latch
Bearing spring guide

Frankly there isn't much more you can replace inside your gearbox!

This kit should be good for springs up to 120m/s which is generally way more than you'll be able to use in the UK

I was only going to order a new piston and sector gear when those in my Marui Beta Speznaz with upgraded spring died (as they do). However I ordered this package and have been very pleased with the result; everything seems well made and finished, the metal bushings are a nice tight fit in the gearbox and it all goes together as it should, just remember to apply a little of your chosen gear grease as its put together, and play around with the supplied shims so that the sideplay in the gears is negligible (but not too tight!). Basically for a few quid more than just a sector gear and piston, my Spez now has basically a whole new heart, apart from the spring and cylinder which I reused. Its now a little noisier than with the TM gears, but that could partly be down to metal rather than plastic bushes. Compression is very good, my original M90 spring puts BB's out around the 320FPS mark. Great value upgrade. (Posted on 26/02/2013)
