The AA R85 is a stunning and beautifully engineered gun. It has only one major flaw that we have encountered - it uses a non-standard piston. So, if your piston fails, you cannot just reach for a new Systema or suchlike. There was a similar spacer available but it is very hard to get, so we went to a friend of ours in the UK and said "can you make us this?". And he did. Machined out of 6082 T6 aluminium and supplied with a hex-head M3 43mm screw, this allows the use of standard pistons within the R85. Please be aware though, you NEED to replace the sector gear with a standard TM type gear to deal with the lesser tooth count. If you don't feel up to that task, we offer an all-in package including the spacer, piston, gear, fitting & collection & return postage. We are nice to you! "Aluminium alloy 6082 is a medium strength alloy with excellent corrosion resistance. It has the highest strength of the 6000 series alloys. Alloy 6082 is known as a structural alloy. As a relatively new alloy, the higher strength of 6082 has seen it replace 6061 in many applications. The addition of a large amount of manganese controls the grain structure which in turn results in a stronger alloy." So now you know!
