overall 8 out of 10
Review by PaulQuality Price Value This will hit a target at 50-60m right out of the box, and has great build quality.
Will fit most m16/m4 mags but Ares tend to make their mag wells slightly too large so some mags may be a bit loose and may not feed perfectly. Also the mag release lever is easy to press by accident, though a stronger spring would fix this.
Will fit a 9.6 NiMH comfortably but make sure the connectors are out of the way of the bolt cover as it moves right to the back of the stock.
Quick spring change feature is awesome, takes no more than 60 seconds. Just open the stock as if changing the battery and undo the large screw just below the battery compartment, then with a large alan wrench simply push in and turn counterclockwise and out pops the spring and guide.
Complicated to take apart, I'll need to find an online guide if I want to change the hop rubber or take it to the store. It also doesnt come with a rear sling mount but that's no big deal.

Nice gun
Review by 44220Value Quality Price Pros:
+ Build materials feel excellent - extremely rugged
+ Good RIS rails with reasonable amount of space
+ Nice looks (if you like the modern style)
+ Quick spring change (see note below)
+ Accuracy is extremely good out of the box
+ Fits standard M4 / M16 mags
+ Spring release
Cons:
- Difficult to find a sling that fits with the rear sling mount (which comes from the RS version)
- Its quite complex to disassemble (although there are a number of good takedown guides posted online to help)
- Small battery space
I haven't included any comments on FPS as this seems to vary widely. Stock, out of the box, mine consistently hit 401 FPS.
The quick spring change is a great feature, however, I have seen several comments on forums to say the spring appears to be screwed into the piston. It isn't, but I had to give it a really firm pull and twist in order to get it out the first time through the quick change at the back. After that, I've had no sticking and can change springs in less than 2 minutes (which is handy as not many sites allow 401 FPS!).
Be warned that some adjustment may be required to magazines to get them to fit. The mag that comes with the gun needed a wrap of scotch tape for me to stop it wobbling, but once done fits perfectly and with no movement. A lot of people have also commented on cheaper (i.e. A.C.M.) mags not staying in, however, the reason appears to be that the "slot" cut into the mag that the catch fastens into (M4 / M16 style) is not deep enough for the TAR's catch. This can easily be solved with a Dremel / file to make the "slot" in the mag deeper.
Personally I have not found the mag release to be an issue, however, if you are having trouble with this its very simple to add something to strengthen the spring so it will require more pressure to release the mag.
I have fitted a 7.4v LiPo in mine as I was struggling with NiMH battery sizes - there is a reasonable amount of room using LiPos but much less for the older nickel batteries. I believe the gun can comfortably cope with this and have seen no excessive wear problems so far.
I would also personally advise buying a sight to upgrade this gun with, because with the iron sights I find it very difficult to get the correct cheek weld to see down them properly.
There are a number of comments on forums and websites about this gun that might put you off buying one - my own personal experience has been excellent and none of the poor build quality (air nozzles, hop-up systems, low FPS, barrel alignment, etc) issues other users have complained about seem to have occurred for me. Its possible I've just been very lucky, but there does seem to have been a poor batch sent to the US which has caused most of these remarks.
Happy hunting!

Superb stuff
Review by Kenny 10 BellysPrice Value Quality Lovely gun, feels top quality and very sturdy. Only shoots 320 on the standard spring, but quick change system means 2 minutes to swap over to a stronger one for forest sites. Quite accurate with long range even on the 320 spring. Stick a tan holosight (Eothech 553 style) on it and it's sex. Only issue is the over sensitive mag release which drops mags at the slightest touch. It's an easy fix though, a stronger spring or a little bit of rubber under the lever fixes it completely.
